To lure her he pretends to learn carnatic music from her father. On discovering this Devi admonishes him. She maintains that veera should forget wooing her and instead pursue his music seriously. Eventually veera discloses his deep love for her and his determination to only marry her or none at all. This starts their relationship and it becomes mutual love. Once when Ratnavelu (the village landlord son) attempts to rape Devi, veera saves her. An enraged landlord insults and challenges Veraâ€™s mother. He demands her to settle an old loan. This sends veera to madras in search of big money. In the city he attempts to take part in a music competition, which could win him the amount he required. The music competition is to be conducted by a leading music company and veera tries to meet the owner (Janakaraj) of the company. Repeated attempts lead him nowhere. However he happens to save the company ownerâ€™s daughter Roopa (Roja) from the clutches of a dreaded mafia man Harichandran. Roopa helps veera to get that golden chance to sing. Undoubtedly veera wins the competition and fulfills his mothers vow to settle scores with the village landlord. Veera however hears of the tragedy that befell Deviâ€™s family and her supposed death. Back in the city veera becomes star. Roopa gets attracted to veera, pressurized by his mother to get married to Roopa. When everything seems just right two serious issues raise their heads. A dead Devi comes alive and Harishchandra emerges from prison after serving his sentence. The twist is yet to come. Both his wives desert Veera.
