Surya, a law graduate, is a youth who is not very focused about his goals. Till his sister (Revathi) dins some sense into him. Surya joins as an apprentice to senior lawyer (Delhi Ganesh). The scenes between the duo are some of the better ones in the film, with both Vijay and Delhi Ganesh raising a few laughs. Certain incidents make the hero take a serious look at the problems the general public face in their day-to-day life. Surya becomes their messiah, helping them file cases in the consumer courts, bringing the errant to pay for their callousness. The hero promptly pulling out a piece of white paper, each time he notes down a complaint would have been more effective, if only it hadn't been already done in 'Muthalwan'. Of course, that time it was type-writer. But a sense of deja vu is there in these scenes.
Vijay fits in well into the role. Subtlety being his forte, he could try avoiding shots like crying straight into the camera. Priyanka Chopra is clearly a disappointment, looking unflatteringly different from what one expected a former Ms. World whom one had seen in ads & on the ramp to look. She flits in and out of the frames, in an apology of a role, used just for the song-dance routine, which she just about manages to carry off. Revathi and Nasser add adequate support, while Ashish Vidyarthi makes a good 'Baddie'.
The second half drags a bit, the hero's actions upsetting the villain's empire. The clichéd scenes of Revathi's kidnapping and murder, and the hero's final fight with the villain, he being honoured by the central government - by a stamp issued in his honour, etc., forms the rest of the story. Iman's song compositions reveal that the debutant understands the demand of film-music.
