Samasthaanam Year of Release : 2002 Cast : Sarathkumar, Suresh Gopi, Abhirami Music : Deva Direction : Raj Kapoor Lyrics : P.Vijay, N.Muthukumar In 'Thenkasipattanam' we saw the Sarath-Napoleon friendship which was thicker than that of blood brothers. There, they fell apart because of their girlfriends. Here Sarath and Suresh Gopi who are close friends, fall apart over the marriage of the latter's sister. The minus point here is that Raj Kapoor stretches the film too long, making it tiresome. The relationships are not clearly defined and too many subplots and flashbacks make it more confusing. Haripriya as the sister, shows promise. All the others seem wasted. Ashish is cast in yet another psychotic villain role, which he could do well to avoid in future. Sarath Kumar and Suresh Gopi are friends. So strong is their friendship, that they never say 'No' to the other's request. Vadivukkarasi, the mother of Suresh Gopi, is angry that her daughter Haripriya declined to marry the son of Manivannan (brother of Vadivukkarasi). Vadivu blames it on the influence of Sarath on Suresh. Devayani is the wife of Sarath and Abhirami is the wife of Suresh. The daughter of Sarath is in reality the child born to Suresh and Abhirami, who had handed over the child to the childless Devayani and Sarath. Ashish Vidyarthi is waiting in the wings to break up the friendship and then kill the duo. The reason is that the parents of Sarath and Suresh, who were friends, had killed Ashish Vidyarthi's father (Raj Kapoor).
