The first meeting at the village festival leads to a flight as the landowners men claim that Kalimuthus village must have resorted to undesirable means to win the cock and goat fight. This then plants the seed of animosity between both and despite Kalimuthus elder brothers efforts to ease the tension of the moment; the end of this was yet to be. While everyone in the family expects Kalimuthu to marry his cousin Mangamma, including the latter herself, he then shocks everyone by declaring his intention to marry, the blind girl, sita (Revathi) instead, Eventually, his marriage to Sita against the intentions of his family takes him out of the village and to the landowners village. As the landowner, who had married Mangamma, takes efforts to oppose and annihilate him and in the process causing harm to Sita herself, a final showdown occurs; it then leads to an unusual conclusion.
