They have joined hands to give many comedies earlier. It is with the very same intention that they have joined again to bring a comedy film Gundaka Mandakka. Debutant director Asokan has put in all his efforts to do his level best in bringing out the talent behind the pair. Parthiban, in his usual way, has played many pranks and lands Vadivelu in a fix. Vadivelu, unable to solve these pranks, fixes them into a beautiful comedy. The theme of the movie is Ilango (Parthiban), who aspires to get his sister Kavitha (Maiiliga) married to a millionaire. In the very aim of becoming rich, Ilango tends to fall in love with Roopa (Lakshmi Rai), the daughter of a rich industrialist. Every now and then, Ilango comes across Chellappa (Vadivelu), a petty thief. Every time he takes Chellappa for a ride. Sequences of events and happenings make Ilango realize that money is not everything a man needs. Finally he and Chellappa struggle to get Ilangoâ€™s sister Kavitha married to her love. Parthiban, as usual, has played with words and has brought out his witty nature in a really neat and presentable way. Vadivelu along with him has done a good job. Lakshmi Rai has filled in the place of glamour. Bharadwajâ€™s music is fine but not outstanding, and director Asokan has taken real good efforts to bring out a good film with a mix of comedy and sense. In brief, a clean comedy.
