Produced by A.M. Ratnam for his Surya Movies, 'Dhool' has Vikram paired with Jyotika and Reema Sen. Dhool, a mass entertainer, portays Vikram as a do-good villager. The story is about how Vikram fights the constituency's minister to stop pollution to the village river. Having all the ingredients for a good movie such as romance, action, sentiments and comedy, the whole cast and crew is quite keyed up about this movie, based on the story of a rogue played by the versatile actor Chiyaan Vikram The story begins in a village where Arumugham (Vikram) and his childhood friend (Jyothika) live. The river in the village is polluted by wastes from a chemical factory nearby. When the villagers' efforts to thwart the pollution is in vain, Arumugham, the goodie goodie lad is chosen to respresent their woes to the minister of their constituency in Chennai. Arumugham goes to Chennai with Easwari and her grandmother and stays with his friend (Vivek) and his gang. Swapna (Reema Sen), a model living in the same area falls for Arumugham. Arumugham give petitions to the minister (Sayaji Shinde) who seems nice with loads of promises to save the river. Once Arumugham happened to fight a group of anti-socials headed by a lady. Arumugam reaslises late that the people he fought against are the henchmen of the minister, who also is behind all crimes. How Arumugham along with a sincere police officer (Manoj.K.Jayan) exposes the minister forms the rest of the story. Reema Sen disappoints in the oomph role that would have suited a Mumtaz better while the others fare well. Clearly, Dhool is a one-man show for Vikram who proves again his overall acting prowess.
