Deepavali (New) Year of Release : 2007 Cast : Bhavana, Jayam Ravi Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja Direction : Ezhil S Producer : Lingusamy N Director Ezhil with the company of Ravi and Bhavana has come out with a blowing action with typical colloquialism(action, humour, and blood sheds) finding all the possibilities at right intervals to convince the visitors all through the movie. The story shuttles between local Royapuram and massive Bangalore with the backdrop of love affair between Billu and Susi. The duo belong to two diverse backgrounds. Billu (Ravi), is a son of local bigwig Mudaliar (Vijay kumar) of Royapuram, who fights against venal forces, while Susi (Bhavana), is a daughter of Chidambaram, notorious thug of Bangalore. And when duo fall for each other, it sets the stage for what should have been an exciting scenario, with the baddie and the reformer set on a path of confrontation. But the way it turns out, the situations are those we have seen in retro parade of previous plots. Susi comes to Roypuram to spend some quite days at the house of her Fatherâ€™s former retainer. It is a tragic scenario for her. Her Mom was killed on a car mishap. She hates her Fatherâ€™s voilent life style. And above all, She suffers from amnesia forgetting the past incidents long years ago. It is a new life for her, when she finds her solace in Billuâ€™s touching moments. But her state of selective amnesia makes her forget her college mate in Chennai. This prepares the viewers for what is in store for Billu, particularly when the doctor (Raghuvaran) certifies him, â€œIf she recovers her memory of the past three years, she is most likely to forget the present incidentsâ€. The rest of the script is about bloody encounters with Chidambaram and his men rushing to Roypuram and Billu shuttling to Bangalore. Susi by now has gone oblaque forgetting Billu. Billu tries to bring back her memories with him. Unfortunately nothing works out. While Billu is trying all the ways to convince her, he is stabbed, banged on the head and slashed all over. Any other hero would have succumbed to injuries, but Billu with over heroism has more lives going beyond the boundary to win his girl. If there is any respite? It is Raviâ€™s genuine performance with the company of Bhavana who spare no effort in making their interactions lively and watchable. Bhavana sporting as bohemian chick in curly look fits the bill. But has to pay attention to her lingerie which looks superficial popping in certain scenes hiding her natural figure. Yuvanâ€™s musical score enlightens our heart with 2 hummable mellows Povathe and Kadhal vaithu which are well picturised and worth watching. The only deep line is Writer-director Ezhilâ€™s story narration. Susi doesnâ€™t regain her sweet memory with Billu till the end. Infact she decides to fall in love with him again a new. Secondly her catankerous Father piously moves away saying â€œHe has lost his daughter foreverâ€ which makes the movie watchable keeping you engrossed at the seat edges.
