More Information About
Sharpshooter Viju (Amitabh Bachchan) is recalled from Paris to gun down ACP Karan Malhotra (Sonu Sood) who’s a thorn in the flesh of underworld figure Kabir (Prakash Raj). The natty, budtameez bbuddah befriends two young girls (Charmie, Sonal Chauhan), shoots a bullet through the forehead and a second one bang on through the same wound, and it’s the baddies who ultimately get all the bullets.
Chala goli. Main maroonga toh bullet se maroonga – BP ya sugar se nahin’ and other such Bachchanisms could have turned this into a tacky spoof of his famous one-liners, but packed with action, comedy and a dollop of emotions, it is an audacious fun film.
Bbuddah totally feeds off Amitabh Bachchan’s powerful persona. Only he as Viju could pull off cheeky yellow scarves, floral prints, big huge glares and three watches.
The energy, the oomph, the colours, the Casanova who evokes mirth more than mockery, the attitude, the rap songs, the fight sequences, and a teary-eyed husband to Sita (Hema Malini), suit Bachchan to the hilt.
The music by Vishal and Shekhar adds cool to Viju’s personality through ‘Go Meera’, rapped by Big B and son AB. The track ‘Haal-e-dil’ is soulful and comforting, and reminds you of Baghban. Once again the chemistry of Baghban resurfaces with the separation and reunion of Viju and Sita. Hema Malini is beautiful and tugs at the heart as a traditional yet strong-willed, emotional wife. Sonu Sood plays a tough cop well and does not let Bachchan’s star power overshadow his performance. Makrand Deshpande, Shahwar Ali, young Charmie Kaur are brilliant as fringe actors and help to give the movie its light moments. Prakash Raj the stalwart has a wonderful screen presence. Action by A Raja is smart. The script and the dialogues are clever and give the audience exactly what they want, some comic touches and some impactful lines.
