Anjaneya Year of Release : 2003 Cast : Ajith Kumar, Meera Jasmine, Raghuvaran, Ramesh Khanna, Anu Haasan, Seetha, Manivannan Music : Mani Sharma Direction : Maharajan Ajitâ€™s Diwali release exactly after a year is watchable from the very beginning to the interval courtroom scene. But post interval the film falls out to be a routine one with some clichÃ©d villains and a predictable climax. The film opens in Kutralam where Paramaguru (Ajit) stays with his sister (Anu Hassan). He get selected for IPS and later moves to Chennai where his father (Raghuvaran) lives. Guru is very temperamental and cannot stand injustice meted out to anyone. He interferes in everybodyâ€™s problems but his father is worried that his posting will be affected if a police case is registered against him. So Guru promises to keep a low profile. He meets Divya (Meera Jasmine) a law student and falls in love with her. A convict out on bail comes to stay near Guruâ€™s house and he is the hatchet man of political King-pin (Reddy). This man is hand-in-glove with politicians and senior police officers and when Guru crosses sword with them, he is framed in a case and the DGP (Vinu Chakravarthy) makes him ineligible to be selected to the police department. Guru sues the police department and battles out his case in the court (the highlight of the film). He wins the case and becomes Paramaguru, IPS who is a hero for the poor and needy. The rest of the film is nothing but Guruâ€™s attempts to bring into light a case where three government officials were killed by Reddy. The second half drags, as there is no strong story or reason for all the fret and fury. There are too many continuity lapses as characters walk in and disappear from the proceedings. Meera Jasmine is totally wasted in a role where she has to appear in two songs. Ajit plays to the gallery and looks dashing as ever. The music of Mani Shama is below average. The highlights are Peter Haynes' stunts especially the tar fight scene. Maharajan, a past master at action films has made the first half racy and entertaining but had to resort on a run-of-the-mill climax. BUY ANY 5 DVD'S AND GET 1 ABSOLUTELY FREE !!!!
