The film sticks out like a sore thumb amid the excellent films produced by K Balachander's banner so far. The less said about the performances of the artistes, the better. Music is very average. Sruthika seems to be the only saving grace. Watch it... if you've got nothing better to do. Vijaykumar and Balachandra Menon are close friends. Menon, an employee in the Collector's office, works as an accountant to Vijaykumar (a grain merchant) without taking any salary. Rajesh, who is Menon's son, is a communist and spends his time participating in agitations which his father dislikes. Sruthika is Vijaykumar's daughter. Vijaykumar is cheated by his brother and is forced to leave the house. He and his daughter come to live in the house next to Menon. Slowly, Sruthika and Rajesh fall in love. Meanwhile, Rajesh, who has a tiff with his father, leaves the house, goes to Chennai and gets a job there. However, Sruthika and Rajesh do not reveal their love to their families, since they are scared it may cause a rift between the two friendly families.
